We tend to forget that American Idol is nothing more than a popularity contest, but our memories just got jogged by the exit of Carly Smithson from the competition. All that singing is just an entertaining distraction from what’s really going on. Remember instances on American Idol in the past when Simon Cowell criticized singers for performances that are too “Broadway”? He must really be squirming in his seat as the American Idol Top 6 took on the songs of Andrew Lloyd Webber, who’s only one of the greatest, if not the greatest composer of stage musicals of all time.

Well, it’s about time, but at the same time, I really didn’t want Kristy Lee Cook to get booted out of American Idol Season 7. Not that she is the best contestant. Far from it. But she is one of the most gorgeous AI finalists ever, right up there with Katharine McPhee and, well…Kat McPhee only, so I guess her elimination means less male viewers than usual for the show. Probably.

For many years now, I have been putting off watching Battlestar Galactica for one reason or another, even if reviews are rather favorable, the special efects are first-rate and the women extremely hot.

Now I have no excuses to offer, not when Tricia Helfer, the sexiest robot ever, is looking this hot in the pages of FHM. Which brings the question, why the hell are fictional robots these days so damn gorgeous? I mean, there’s Summer Glau for The Sarah Connor Chornicles and Michelle Ryan for Bionic Woman. Robots are supposed to be made of cold, hard steel, not hot, soft flesh. But I’m not complaining.

What the hell is that kid alien from 3rd Rock From The Sun doing cozying up to Claudia Schiffer in the pages of the latest GQ? Well, she was engaged to David Copperfield once, so I guess she’s no stranger to having beings from another planet act like they’re having her for breakfast.

She may have retired from the catwalk, and already has a couple of kids, but Claudia can still definitely give those who call themselves supermodels these days a run for their money. Oh yes. She is still smoking hot, and probably will stay that way for a long time.

I have no idea who this Samantha Fava is. But judging by her quotes in her spread for Ralph Australia, we get a clear picture of what she’s all about. I mean, doesn’t “I can handcuff him to a chair and then do my thing” and “we were walking around naked, we didn’t care” speak volumes?

The only regret I have is that she isn’t my neighbor. If I were, I’d let her do her thing on her front lawn and not call the cops, because I am a good neighbor, and wouldn’t want to cause her any trouble.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is featured in the latest issue of Details magazine, saying he’s one of its 2008 Mavericks — 22 “big thinkers shaping your life” . And he’s apparently in good company, as the list has stripper-tuned Oscar-winning scriptwriter Diablo Cody, DJ Mark Ronson and Saturday Night Live’s Amy Poehler in it.

Seacrest is looking good in the magazine, but his pics seem to be a little too airbrushed. Well, that should make up for the fact that he’s about 4 feet tall, shouldn’t it?
