Philippine Idol Moves to GMA-7
It’s final: Philippine Idol will be moving to GMA-7 for its second season. This was confirmed by an executive from ABC-5, which hosted the show’s first season.
This, by all means, is great news. The ABC-5 version sucked, no doubt about it. Technical glitches, some of which were pathetically blamed on nature, dogged the first season. Now, with GMA-7, a much more technically proficient network (not to mention way richer), we can expect a Philippine Idol that could be at par with the U.S. version in more ways than one.
Now all they have to do is remove two worthless judges in Francis Magalona and Pilita Corrales, and we’re all set for a slam-bang Philippine Idol Season 2 on GMA-7. DJ Mo’ Twister would be a perfect replacement for the potheaded poseur, while Lea Salonga, if only she’s available, should take Pilita’s place. No sense keeping judges who make absolutely no sense. Let’s leave the Paula Abdul incomprehensibility and the Randy Jackson pretentiousness to the Americans.
